If my employer proposes me a significant promotion while I'm waiting for my application result, is it possible to ask the adcom for it before the official decision release date?

    Thank you.

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly.

If you are asking whether adcom can make an early decision for your specific application, the answer is unfortunately no. Apart from the fact that final decisions are only made fairly late in the application process, if Wharton started releasing decisions early, pretty soon all applicants would be asking for early decisions.

    Asterix,

By the official decision release date, you will have known whether or not you are accepted. However, there is no way of which I am aware to have this result expedited for many reasons (e.g. - ensuring AdCom has sufficient time to review all necessary considerations). This is also done to promote fairness amongst all applicants. It would also be to your benefit (most likely) to have AdCom give the most thorough review and consideration of your application materials. A hasty response by AdCom could, at worst, result in a premature rejection. A theoretical, premature acceptance could also end up negatively impacting both you and Wharton if the two are not the best fit.

I can appreciate the challenging position in which you may find yourself, but this will be the first of many significant decisions you will make in your career for which there is uncertainty and lacking information. This, in a way, is good practice. I would suggest that, if it is feasible for you to do so, you lay out your options clearly to your employer so they understand the circumstances facing you. If explained well and with care, many employers will understand and appreciate your candor and initiative.

    Good luck,

Thank you for your prompt answer.

I'm working in economic development and a promotion implies an affectation in a new region (probably in a different continent).

I'll do my best to delay the decision.
