• Recommendation questions for 2013 Fall entrance? From: sangpaiklee  Jun 24, 2012 Posts 3

  Hello,   I'm preparing an application package for MBA class of 2015, and I was wondering if the questions for the recommenders has been confirmed yet. I could only find the questions for last year in this blog. Knowing the questions would definitely help a lot in selecting the proper recommender.   Kind regards,   Sean.    Reply

  Sean, The questions usually are roughly the same from year to year (at least recently). Pick the recommenders who know you best and can speak in most substantive detail about you, your accomplishments, and your potential. -Victor  WG '11 Reply

  Victor,    Thanx for the advice~! I'm looking at last year's questions and those from previous years to get a glimpse of what wharton looks to hear about me. I would definitely find someone that has spent a significant amount of time with me in the professional field.   Adcom are more interested in the CONTENT of the recommendations, than the formatting. As long as it easily readable (please don't use 6 point Gothic), formatting is of little importance. FF Reply

  MBA Admissions, Thank you for posting the recommendation questions on your discussion board, that was very helpful.  I wanted to clarify what length guidance the recommenders should be using?  On the webpage here (http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/mba/admissions/preparing-a-successful-applica.cfm#rec), it is stated that "Useful recommendations are usually two to three pages long".  However, within the application itself, recommenders are given guidance of 500 words for each of the 5 questions, which would well exceed three pages.  Is two to three pages still the best length guidance to use?   Many questions can be answered in considerably less than 500 words. eg. long answers to "describe your relationship to the applicant" would probably be quite tedious. 500 words should be considered the maximum length to any particular question, with 2-3 pages overall is probably about the right length. But recommenders may well choose to go into greater depth on issues and questions they feel are more significant.   FF Reply
