• Wharton MBA for Executives Optional Essay From: hudson  Jan 09, 2012 Posts 6

  Dear All: I am currently working through the application process for the Wharton MBA for Executives and have a question about the optional Essay #4.  Should this essay be viewed only as an opportunity to highlight any inconsistencies or extenuating circumstances in one's application or also an opportunity to provide extra information about one's candidacy that has not already been covered in some way throughout the rest of the application?   I realize that a similar question has previously been asked and addressed related to the optional essay for the full-time program but I still thought it was worth a post because the wording of the optional essay differs between the two programs.  I want to make sure that I am completing the application as thoroughly as possible while being very mindful of not providing information that isn't preferred by the admissions committee.   Hudson, Answering number 4 is truly optional. It is up to you to decide if there is something else that is important which you would like to share that you did not feel came through in the rest of the application materials. The regular MBA essay is subject to some more stringent guidelines and is intended for more explanatory purposes. The MBA for Executives optional essay prompt is more open of a solicitation, in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't write an essay just for the sake of writing an essay.
