  • Social Impact Fellowships?
    From: smmm  Nov 28, 2011 Posts 4

    Hi,

I am a non-traditional applicant (already applied and interviewed for R1), with a career focus on social impact/enterprise. I am curious to know if the Social Impact Fellowship listed here is basically the same as it is as most other business schools, a stipend for doing a summer internship with a non-profit? Or if it is indeed a general scholarship?

    Thanks!

    Sonia

    Sonia,

The Social Impact Fellowship, I believe, is awarded as funds/credit that do not need to be repaid. It does not tie into any summer internship obligation, as far as I am aware.

I will confirm this and get back to you.

    Sonia,

The Social Impact Fellowships are indeed "free" scholarships. (Thanks to Admissions and S. Kuhlman for the insight!)

    Victor,

Thanks again! This is good to know. This is really distingushes Wharton from other schools for people looking at Social Enterprise programs. Usually the funds are tied to summer internships.
