  • Fluent in Arabic & English: Would I Qualify?
    From: azooz2006  Aug 06, 2011 Posts 1

    Hello everyone,

I was born and raised in Kuwait, so I am fluent in Arabic and English. Did my undergrad in the US. Would the Lauder program be a good fit for me, or would it only be for people who are interested in a region and are not completely familiar with it? Since I am not close to knowing any other language, I feel like the program probably wouldn't be applicable to someone like me unless i decide to, say, pick up Spanish over the next few months...Please advise if this line of thought makes sense.

    Thanks,

    Aziz

    Hello, Aziz,

Please start by taking a look at the Lauder website. One good place to start is to visit http://lauder.wharton.upenn.edu/pages/admissions/faq.asp.

Lauder would not be a good fit for you, based on what you have written above. The program is not intended for those already at native fluency in the language of interest. Nor is it meant for those who are not at least somewhat proficient in the language of interest (i.e. - no beginners).
