    Hi,

I am a R2 waitlisted candidate and in the process of changing jobs. I only have this one waitlist this year. The new job i believe will help improve my profile for next years app season if i dont get lucky this time.

I want to know if I should inform Wharton about this change. Would adcom take this negatively? or should i just push my joining for after May14 instead and avoid the issue altogether?

    Thanks!

    Nath,

If you are already in the process of changing jobs, then I would think you should not stop doing so just on the possibility of being accepted off the waitlist. Hopefully you have kept your new employer abreast of your situation.

If, however, you are just beginning to undertake transition discussions and have some flexibility in time, I would advise postponing your job switch until after you have reached a final conclusion about your candidacy for Wharton (either through a final result from AdCom or through your decision to discontinue waiting for admission, this year).

I don't think you should inform the AdCom of this change, at this time. It would be unlikely to help expedite a decision in a favorable way, if at all.

    Regards,

Appreciate you taking time to answer my Q. I will hold off the move till May 14.

    Dear Victor and S2S team,

I am also a Waitlisted candidate from R2. I delayed my response to an offer for a new role with my current employer in order to see the May 14 results from Wharton. I would choose to join Wharton if given the opportunity to attend, however the role I am offered requires an urgent response and a commitment of at least a year and a half. The May 14 deadline brought no change to my status as a Waitlisted candidate and I am asked to respond to my employer. Do you think a respectful request to admissions would be seen negatively at this point?

    MBAgirl,

I think you could reach out to Admissions to notify them of your situation. However, to be completely frank, I would think the most likely response would be that they are not able yet to make a final decision regarding your candidacy. My logic is as follows:

I assume that, if they were ready to admit you at this stage, they would likely have told you already. It is unlikely much has changed over the weekend. If this is true, then the best response you could get would be that AdCom is keeping you on the waiting list, still. If you needed to force a decision, now, it would likely result in non-acceptance.

So, what does this mean? I guess you should consider whether or not it is worth risking losing the employment opportunity for the chance that you might be admitted at a later point in time (the probability of which I would guess is relatively low). To me, that is the key question to answer, now.

    Good luck,

    Victor
